Ultrasound Technician

Becoming an ultrasound tech requires a student to attend a community college or trade school to obtain an Associate’s degree or certificate in their program. In 2008 over 150 ultrasound tech programs had been accredited. Salary can range anywhere from $50,000 all the way to $80,000 or more. This is a highly sought after profession because babies are always going to be born! If you feel so inclined, you can obtain a Bachelor’s degree as well which would open up more opportunities for you.

An ultrasound technician has responsibilities such as explaining the ultrasound to the patient as well as prepping them for the exam. It is crucial that that they are familiar with the history of the patient as well as the equipment that is being used. Technicians are also trained to analyze the ultrasound information and provide summaries on the data and findings.
